SYNOPSIS

The story starts in 1996 when two sisters, Júlia and Raquel (18 and 24 years-old at the time), go out with a group of friends to celebrate New Year’s. Although the moment is right for partying, Júlia stays away from drinks. Her sister confronts her, and Júlia ends up confessing she is pregnant. On their way home, Raquel runs over a man who was crossing the street. In an act of panic, she decides to flee the scene of the accident, against Julia’s will, who insists they have to return to help. Júlia refuses since she had been drinking and knew it would show up on an alcohol screening.
While they are arguing about what to do, the police show up and Júlia lies, by saying she was the one driving the car when the incident occurred. She does it to protect her sister, convinced her action will not have severe consequences. Júlia never expected the victim to die in the hospital, turning the case into homicide after the hit and run. Moreover, that man was their father’s creditor, which increased suspicions of premeditated crime. Júlia was convicted to 18 years in prison for qualified homicide. Her boyfriend visits her once, only to admit he is not prepared to deal with the situation, putting an end on their relationship.
Seeing his youngest daughter behind bars, Julia’s father (her mother died giving birth to her) becomes physically incapacitated, and eventually dies from a stroke.
A few months after being arrested, Júlia gives birth to a girl, Mariana. Her sister Raquel promises to take care of her niece until she is set free. She makes her promise to never tell her daughter the truth on her whereabouts, but instead tell the girl she is travelling around the world. In the first months, Raquel regularly visits her sister every week but, after marrying Zé Maria and being diagnosed with uterine fibroids, which require a hysterectomy, she will get attached to Mariana. In addition to all this, Júlia herself did not want Mariana growing up and seeing her in prison, which leads Raquel to disconnect completely from Júlia, leaving her to her own luck.

After 16 years in prison, Júlia is out on parole, and the inevitable reunion with her sister happens, with Raquel managing to keep Júlia away from Mariana. In this controversial stage of her life, Júlia meets Duarte, a disappointed diplomat who had just returned from Brussels.

Now, Júlia only has one purpose in life: to reunite with her daughter, creating conditions to tell her everything that happened, without Mariana’s rejection.

“Dancin’ Days” a co-production title with TV GLOBO is a universal conflict with a second chance at life.
